JRW 9-26-13_4x5 B&WJohn Robert Williams, a life-long resident of Traverse City, MI has been a studio owner & professional photographer for over 34 years.  His studio is one of the largest private studios in the state of Michigan.  Exceptional portraiture, product and location photography are his hallmarks.  John also has a great passion for Traverse City, leading many positive changes in the town he loves.  An avid, life-long cyclist, he co-founded Traverse Area Recreational Trails (TART) in 1986. In 2005, he was a co-founder of the Traverse City Film Festival, with Filmmaker Michael Moore.  John served on the City Planning Commission for over a decade from age 17.  For 22 years, John and his brother David were annual entrants in the National Cherry Festival Royale Parade, with a massive, crowd-pleasing marching unit, float and queens.  John has received awards such as the Distinguished Alumni from NMC in 2007, the Jim Mudget Award as a trail pioneer from TART in 2011, and the Lyle DeYoung award from the DTCA. John is married to Terrie Taylor D.O. and is the father of Evan and Colin Williams. John is a guest lecturer at colleges and high schools and has displayed his works many different places.   John is a passionate cheerleader and advocate for the great quality of life Traverse City has to offer.
